Administration candidate Gilbert Teodoro cast his vote in Carabaoan-Caocaoayan Elementary School here at 9 a.m.
Arriving via a helicopter at the farm community here, Teodoro was greeted by supporters and townmates.
Teodoro walked past the long queue and immediately entered Precinct 25. He was accompanied by his wife Congresswoman Nikki Prieto-Teodoro and his son.
The election supervisors said VIPs did not need to line up.
The standard-bearer of Lakas-Kampi-Christian Muslim Democrats has lagged behind in the surveys but he has kept his hopes high about the outcome.
There is only one PCOS machine in the precinct for some 500 voters.
A total of 498 people are expected to cast their votes in this two-building, single-story school.
Voting started at around 7 a.m.
At 84, Cecilia Candelario is the oldest voter in the precinct. She said she has been a voter in the barangay (village) since she was 18.
It took about 10 minutes before Candelario completed the voting process.
She said voting this time was "mahirap [difficult]" because the ovals to be shaded were too small.
"It's hard to shade the oval," she said in Filipino.
Candelario said a relative assisted her in voting.
She said she voted for Teodoro, too, because he was "mabuti [a good person]."
Gaudencio Manuel, 50, lamented that his ballot was considered spoiled because of the blot caused by the ink in the Comelec's marker.
Mario Sobiate, 56, the first voter in the precinct, said it took him only five minutes to cast his vote using the precinct count optical scan (PCOS) machine.

130 congressmen rally behind Gibo
Amid the defections and betrayals within the ruling party Lakas-Kampi-CMD, more than 130 congressional candidates and incumbent congressmen took time out from their campaign to express and sign a manifesto of support to prove their continued support for the Lakas-Kampi-CMD presidential bet Gilbert Teodoro Jr..
In a meeting among members of the Lakas-Kampi-CMD party at the Dusit Hotel in Makati Monday afternoon, ruling party chair Cong. Amelita Villarosa said that Lakas members will continue to campaign for Teodoro.
She also denied reports that members of the so-called Northern Alliance, a group of legislators from northern Luzon, had already bolted the ruling coalition and is supporting Nacionalista Party standard-bearer Sen. Manny Villar.
Villarosa said the report was purely black propaganda since the supposed spokesman of the alliance--Ilocos Sur 2nd District Rep. Eric Singson--is not a member of Lakas but has been a member of the Liberal Party.
To prove her point, she called on the members of the Northern Alliance, headed by La Union Rep. Victor Ortega, to stand up and pose with Teodoro on Monday.
Rep. Villarosa also said that contrary to news reports, Quezon City Rep. Annie Susano is with the Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC) party, not with Lakas.
In a statement read during the meeting by Rep. Roger Mercado of Southern Leyte, the group promised to be true to their ideals and push for the candidacy of Teodoro.
During a photo opportunity, more than 100 incumbent and congressional candidates posed with Teodoro and the whole leadership of the Lakas party and made the thumbs-up sign.
For his part, Teodoro thanked the congressional candidates and incumbent congressman for their support, but he had to leave early because of a scheduled rally in Antipolo City.
Ten minutes after Teodoro left, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo joined the meeting and asked her party mates to stick together and remain united for Teodoro.

Gibo Teodoro takes 2-day break, conducts loyalty check
Lakas-Kampi-CMD standard-bearer Gilbert Teodoro has cancelled 2 days of campaigning to fix the troubles hounding the administration party.
Teodoro gathered party leaders in a closed-door meeting in Makati Wednesday to conduct a loyalty check.
The meeting came after a series of resignations and defections of Lakas-Kampi-CMD stalwarts.
The latest to leave the party was President Arroyo's economic adviser Albay Governor Joey Salceda.
Reginald Velasco, deputy secretary-general of Lakas-Kampi-CMD, said they want to know who are truly for Teodoro. They also want to rally the troops and ask them how the defections will affect the party.
At a hastily called press conference in Quezon City on Wednesday, members of the so-called "Green Team 2010" reiterated their support for Teodoro, who has lost several party mates.
The party's new chairman Amelita Villarosa herself said more members could bolt as the elections near.
There are also rumors that members of the Arroyo Cabinet, including Finance Secretary Gary Teves, former Budget Secretary Rolando Andaya, are soon jumping ship.
But Lakas-Kampi-CMD's secretary-general Ray Roquero denied this, saying it was black propaganda waged by Teodoro's opponents.
Aquino sees more defections
But if Liberal Party standard-bearer Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino Jr. is to be believed, more Lakas-Kampi officials will follow Joey Salceda's move and join his camp.
Aquino tapped Salceda to serve as the LP's chairman in the Bicol region.
"Meron pang iba pang darating. At hintayin ko sila magdeklara para di ma-preempt ang kanilang announcement. At di lang sa administration party, meron iba pang panggagalingan. But I’m not at liberty to say it. I did agree they will do it in their own time," Aquino said on Wednesday,

Gibo Latest Election Update: I'm not quitting presidential race
Lakas-Kampi-Christian Muslim Democrats standard-bearer Gilbert Teodoro on Sunday said he is bent on pursuing his goal of winning the presidency amid rumors that he is backing out of the race.
In a statement, Teodoro dismissed rumors that that his resignation as chairman of the ruling coalition Lakas-Kampi is a precursor to his move to quit the presidential race.
"Rumors have been circulating that I will allegedly call for a press conference this Monday to announce my withdrawal from the presidential race. Such rumors are originating from sectors that will cast aside all notions of decency to satiate their salivation and hunger for power through the Presidency," he said in a statement sent by Teodoro's spokesman, Mike Toledo.
He added: "Unfortunately, such is commonplace in Philippine politics, which reinforces my determination to make a stand, to continue the fight. I will settle for no less than VICTORY. Our people deserve no less. Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!"
Teodoro resigned as chairman of Lakas-Kampi last Tuesday, a move which was imitated by Lakas-Kampi party president Rene Miguel Dominguez and secretary general Francis Xavier Manglapus. (Read: After Gibo, 2 top Lakas-KAMPI execs quit)
Sources from Teodoro's camp earlier said the Lakas presidential bet resigned as party chairman to protest the lack of support from President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, the party's chair-emeritus. (Read: Gibo quit to protest GMA's lack of support: sources)
The lack of support is evident in Teodoro's low level of spending on political advertisements compared with the other major opposition presidential bets.
From February 9 to March 2, Teodoro spent P60 million, even lower than Bagumbayan presidential bet Sen. Richard Gordon, who spent P67 million.
Teodoro was fifth in TV ad spending after Sen. Manny Villar (P120 million), former President Joseph Estrada (P88 million), Sen. Benigno 'Noynoy' Aquino III (P87 million), and Richard Gordon (P67 million).
He spent only half of what Villar spent in the first month of the presidential campaign. This is based on a study by Libertas using data of media research firm, AGB Nielsen.
Teodoro, meanwhile, welcomed the recent appointment of Deputy Speaker Amelita Villarosa as the new chairwoman of the ruling party.
Villarosa, who represents Occidental Mindoro, was chosen chairperson of Lakas-Kampi-CMD in place of Teodoro during an emergency meeting last Wednesday of the ruling party's Executive Committee.
In that same executive committee meeting, erstwhile Lakas-Kampi-CMD secretary-general Francis Manglapus was chosen to be the new party president-vice Sarangani Gov. Miguel Dominguez-while its deputy secretary-general Raymundo Roquero took over Manglapus' place as secretary-general.
As the newly appointed Lakas-Kampi secretary general, Roquero called on all of its local leaders and members to close ranks and rally solidly in support of Gibo and the rest of the ruling party's national candidates.
These are the party's vice-presidential bet Edu Manzano and senatorial candidates reelectionist Senators Bong Revilla and Lito Lapid, lawyer Raul Lambino, media personality Rey Langit, former justice secretary Silvestre Bello and Mayor Ramon Guico of Binalonan, Pangasinan.
Roquero said last week's meeting was convened following Gibo's decision to step aside as party chairman so the former defense secretary can work full-time on his candidacy and let the party choose a new chairperson who can also devote his or her 100 percent attention to the needs of the party and its candidates who are running for elective positions in the May 10 balloting.
Two-thirds of nearly 19,000 candidates running for local elective positions belong to the ruling party.

Arroyo won't campaign for Gibo
Despite reports that she is backing another candidate, President Arroyo on Monday reiterated that she will not campaign for Lakas-Kampi Christian Muslim Democrats standard-bearer Gilbert Teodoro for the 2010 presidential election.
Palace Deputy Spokesman Gary Olivar made this clear when he was asked if the President will now campaign for Teodoro if only to dispel speculations she or her family is backing a different candidate, specifically Nacionalista Party presidential candidate Sen. Manny Villar.
“[The] President has always said governance is top priority, campaigning comes second. You can always have many campaigners but you can only have one president," he told reporters.
Olivar said there is no need for the President to reassure Teodoro of her support, noting that the former defense chief has not expressed doubts on the support of the President.
He added that the President is helping Teodoro by immediately appointing Deputy Speaker Amelita Villarosa as the new chairman of the Lakas-Kampi CMD after he stepped down from the post.
The President's spokesman also criticized Villar and Liberal Party presidential candidate Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III for using the president to malign each other.
"Unfortunately, both opposition parties still haven’t gotten away from the understandable temptation of running a campaign against the incumbent instead of their own...It is so easy to hurl criticisms against incumbent. Maybe opponents can explain if they are using Gibo as proxy so they can attack her instead of running own campaign," he said.
Former Social Welfare Secretary Corazon "Dinky" Soliman, however, said the recent movements of close friends of the President to the Nacionalista Party indicates that there is more to the allegation that meets the eye.
"The people can see that close friends and leaders of Lakas are siding with Villar. Even Teodoro's resignation is an indication that he sees he is no longer the one being supported," he said.
Soliman said President Arroyo knows that the next administration should be friendly to her to ensure her own political survival. She said the incumbent President could perpetuate herself in power by ensuring the failure of elections or ensure that the new administration would look favorably upon her as she faces a number of graft cases when she steps down on June 30.
The former Cabinet official said the interests of the First Couple cannot be divorced from each other, noting that it was improbable that Malacañang would support two candidates.
“Para sa akin, yung mag-asawa laging nag-uusap...Imposible na magkahiwalay pa stratehiya dahil kapakanan at kinabukasan nila ito," she said.
She added: "They're just backing one, not two candidates. Sa akin, tingin ko sinasabi nila that [Teodoro's candidacy kailangan yun para may panglito o panligaw.”
For her part, Cebu 6th District Rep. Nerisa Soon Ruiz denied that First Gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo had a hand in her transferring to Villar's camp.
"My decision to support Sen. Villar was made after a thorough consultation with my allies and leaders. My group believed that Sen. Villar is the presidential bet who can best serve the needs of Mandauehanons. As a local bet who isrunning for a mayoralty post my primordial concern is what is best for my constituents. Hence, the First Gentleman has nothing to do with this development. As a famous line says, 'My loyalty to my party ends when the interest of my people begins,'" Ruiz said.
Over the weekend, Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia hinted that there is a plot to undermine her family’s support for Teodoro.
Garcia, seen as key to President Arroyo’s 1 million vote winning margin in the 2004 polls, reiterated her family’s support for Teodoro. Asked if her brother, GSIS president and known Arroyo ally Winston Garcia, also supports Teodoro, Garcia said she does not speak for her brother who has his own position.
Lim tells Gibo: Sever ties with GMA
Suspected coup plotter now senatorial candidate Brig. Gen. Danilo Lim on Monday advised Teodoro to sever ties with President Arroyo, who he said hasn’t been true to the presidential aspirant.
“If Gibo wants to be treated as a candidate that is neither a ‘dummy candidate’ nor someone shackled to the administration, he should immediately declare independence and run on his accord," he said in a statement.
In his message, Lim said Teodoro gains nothing by remaining loyal to a President who is secretly backing another candidate. He said he respects and admires Teodoro as a worthy presidential contender who should continue on his quest for the presidency.
"The people are not asking him to quit from the presidential race. He has all the right and qualifications to run. All we are asking is for him to quit Gloria; like what Gloria already did to him and like what the Filipino people long ago did to her nine-year misrule,” he said.
Lim is running as a independent in the senatorial race although he had been adopted by the group of presidential aspirants Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III of the Liberal Party and former President Joseph Estrada of the Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino.
He is detained at the PNP national headquarters in Camp Crame for involvement in the November 2007 siege of the Manila Peninsula Hotel where he withdrew support from President Arroyo whom he called a “bogus president.”
Lim - along with fellow senatorial candidate Col. Ariel Querubin who is running under Villar’s ticket - also figured in the alleged plan to overthrow the Arroyo government in February 2007.

The move by presidential candidate Gilberto 'Gibo' Teodoro to resign from the ruling Lakas-KAMPI-CMD as party chairman was a sign of protest against the lack of support from President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, sources from Teodoro's camp told ABS-CBN News.

The source said it is not clear how far Teodoro will go to express his frustration over Arroyo's lack of support for her official candidate.
The source said this will depend on how Malacañang will respond to Teodoro's move.

"Ang bilis ng aksyon ng executive committee and so, I think, everything's well, wala tayong dapat alalahanin at tuloy-tuloy ang kampanya natin for Gilbert Teodoro, for Edu Manzano and for our senators," Pichay said.
JDV: Lakas-Kampi is crumbling
Meanwhile, Lakas founder Jose de Venecia said the ruling party is crumbling and disintegrating, and he blames Malacañang for the discontent within Lakas-KAMPI-CMD.
De Venecia said he expected this to happen to the ruling party, especially since the merger between the Lakas and KAMPI was only forced on them.
He said the party's internal problems was God's punishment for the alleged treacherous acts of Malacañang against the original members of Lakas.
He also claimed these woes were a result of Malacañang's outpouring of support for its real candidate, whom he did not identify.
The Liberal Party (LP) has accused Villar as being the real candidate of Malacañang, a charge Villar has denied.
De Venecia vowed that he and former President Fidel V. Ramos, also a co-founder of Lakas, will reclaim leadership of the party.
He said they will call original Lakas members to a meeting after Holy Week to elect a new leadership and endorse a presidential candidate, who will not necessarily be Teodoro.
Teodoro sees win in Southern Leyte
Meanwhile, despite having a fever and cough, Teodoro on Wednesday campaigned in Maasin, Southern Leyte.
He reiterated that he quit as Lakas-KAMPI-CMD chair so that he can focus on his presidential campaign.
"Minabuti ko na na magbitaw, kasi either ako magsakripisyo katulad nung ginawa ko sa aking partido noong araw, ako nagsakripisyo, ako...ang aking political career ang nag-suffer. Kaya't hindi ko na puwede gawin yan e. Kailangan manalo ako e," he said.
Teodoro denied there were serious rifts among the leaders of the party, including President Arroyo. He also refused to be affected by the persistent rumors about Mrs. Arroyo's alleged support for Villar.
Teodoro said he will remain the standard-bearer of Lakas-KAMPI-CMD, and that he will not leave the party to run as an independent candidate.
"Kung didistansya lang ako e di umalis na ako sa Lakas-KAMPI. Pero miyembro pa rin ako at ako ang kandidato. Yun lamang, hindi ko na kaya hatiin yung katawan ko," he said.
Even if his survey ratings have not significantly improved enough to be competitive in the race, Teodoro said he is happy with the warm support of the people he meets in his sorties, such as the big attendance at the grand proclamation rally in Southern Leyte,
Local party officials expressed continued support for Teodoro, and said they believe the party machinery will help Teodoro win in the province.

Teodoro quits as Lakas party chair
Gilbert ``Gibo’’ Teodoro has resigned as chairman of the Lakas-Kampi-Christian Muslim Democrats, but will remain as standard-bearer of the administration party.
In a letter sent to the national executive committee of the party, he said he wanted to do away with the rigorous tasks of attending to the needs of members and focus on his presidential campaign.
"Effective immediately I am resigning as chairman of our party so that I can focus all my efforts campaigning for the presidency of the country as the official candidate of Lakas-Kampi-CMD," he said in his letter.
"The party needs at this time a full time Chairman who will be able to respond on a 24/7 basis to the needs of our party candidates running for various elective posts this coming elections," he added.
Reggie Velasco, Lakas-Kampi-CMD deputy secretary general, said being an ordinary member would allow Teodoro to give more time to his campaign, rather than attend to party matters.
"We have 18,000 candidates and most of them want to have a meeting with him for their campaign requirements. It's a 24/7 thing, which he could no longer attend to," Velasco said in a phone interview.
Velasco said the national executive committee would meet to discuss Teodoro's replacement after Holy Week.
Teodoro has remained in fourth place in various presidential surveys, but his camp said they would bank on the support of their local candidates to deliver for him the win in the May elections.

Gibo, Edu beg off from tandem debate
This early, Lakas-Kampi-CMD standard-bearers Gilbert Teodoro and Edu Manzano are begging off from the first ever tandem debates among presidential and vice-presidential candidates aired live nationwide on Sunday.
In a statement, Teodoro said he has already saturated forums and debates and now needs to concentrate on doing campaign sorties in the provinces. He said the start of the campaign period for local candidates could boost his campaign as he joins local bets of Lakas-Kampi-CMD.
He added that he will probably join the debates again in the last 2 weeks of the campaign.
His running mate, Manzano, also said he prefers to go directly to the voters instead of attending nationally-televised debates. Manzano said he shunned the first ever Harapan: The Vice-Presidential Debate on ABS-CBN last Sunday because he sees TV debates as just another venue for mudslinging.
"I did not attend the forum kasi mudslinging ang nangyari. Hindi siya nakakatulong. It does not address regional concerns ng mga tao," he told reporters.
He added: "At the end of the day, nakakatulong lang ito sa mga TV stations dahil sa mga ad spots."
There is also talk that other presidential-vice presidential tandems are planning to snub the debate after last Sunday's fiery debate among 6 vice-presidential candidates.
A political analyst, meanwhile, said candidates should not be afraid to join nationally-televised debates.
In an interview, Ramon Casiple of the Institute of Political and Electoral Reform said candidates who fail to appear in TV debates lose their chance to present their platforms in a very personal manner before a larger audience.
"TV is a very personal medium for viewers. It's not just what you say but your mannerisms, the way you answer, has an impact. In some ways, it has an even greater impact. Your total personality is observed and sometimes that's more important for voters," he said.
He added, however, that some candidates may purposely shun live debates since they cannot control what comes out on television.

Gibo aims to catch up with new TV ads
The Lakas-Kampi will start fighting for airtime against the leading presidential candidates of other parties.
The ruling party intends to pour money for the television ads of its standard-bearer Gilbert Teodoro, who is trailing behind three other candidates in presidential surveys
With two months to go before the election, young voters are increasingly the target of Teodoro's campaign.
Teodoro was in Butuan City Thursday campaigning in schools and universities.
Young voters are also the thrust of a new set of TV advertisements that the campaign will release next week.
Teodoro's spokesman Mike Toledo said their strategy is based on findings that show Teodoro has a stronger appeal among the youth.
"Sinasabi sa ads na iyan na nagpapatunay na ang mga estudyante, ang kabataan, na sila ang karamihan ng magiging botante sa darating na halalan. Fifty-two percent of the voting population will come from the youth, sila ay naniniwala kay Gibo," Toledo said.
The new ad campaign is expected to begin Monday and run until the end of the campaign period.
Toledo said this should put to rest any doubts that the ruling party is not fully behind its presidential candidate.
"We will saturate the airwaves with all these advertisements saka mga mensahe. Kung ano ang maximum under the law, uubusin namin lahat iyan," he said.

Teodoro has a lot of campaigining to do. Surveys show that he is still trailing behind his three major opponents--Sen. Benigno 'Noynoy' Aquino III of the Liberal Party, Sen. Manny Villar of the Nacionalista Party, and former President Joseph Estrada of the Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP).
Much of the problem has been a lack of exposure.
Since the campaign period officially began, Teodoro has had almost no TV ads, unlike his opponents who have used more than half of the allowable airtime give to them.
But if Teodoro's campaign is finally taking off, it's not the same story with the ruling party's senatorial slate.
Senatorial candidate Raul Lambino said he has received almost no support from Lakas-Kampi.
This was not the case in the mid-term election in 2007, where Lakas candidates spent over P1 billion on TV ads.
Toledo admitted there have been funding problems, but added that these have been resolved.
"There was a problem in the release pero ganon talaga sa kampanya, it's not perfect," he said.
But whatever the fate of the Lakas-Kampi senatorial candidates, on Monday, when the new ad campaign begins, Toledo expressed confidence that Teodoro's numbers finally would take off.

Gibo Teodoro sure to get Baguio City votes
Administration candidate Gilbert Teodoro joined the candidates, who trooped here on Sunday to campaign at the 15th Panagbenga (Baguio Flower Festival), emerging most confident of cornering the city's votes in the May 2010 election.
Senator Manuel Villar and his senatorial slate, and Senator Richard Gordon were also in the festival and went around the packed city to woo votes. Villar and Gordon are also running for president.
Teodoro squeezed through the throng of people at the historic Burnham Park en route to the Athletic Bowl Field to watch the parade of the floats adorned by fresh flowers. He was later joined by two of his senatorial candidates in the Lakas-Kampi slate, re electionist Senators Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. and Lito Lapid.
He proceeded to the SM City Baguio where he was mobbed anew by mall-goers, who went to him to shake hands and pose for pictures.
Teodoro will meet with the bishops in the afternoon and will have dinner with executives of the Cordillera Administrative Region in the evening.
Asked about his chances in Baguio, he said he was “quite confident” of getting about 90 percent of the voters here.
“I am confident that I have big chance of winning because the local leaders here is with us. I know the situation in Baguio,” he said in an interview with reporters.
“It also helps that there is some familiarity with me here. I speak the language that roots in this city. And most of all, people here in Baguio are thinking voters. I cannot put words in their mouth but it is up to them to judge who is the best for Baguio,” he said.
Five of the governors of the provinces belonging to CAR are expected to attend the dinner with Teodoro, one of his close aides said.
CAR is composed of the provinces of Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga and Mountain Province, and one chartered city, Baguio City. It hjas about one million voters.
Teodoro said it was expected for candidates like him to attend festivals like the Panagbenga because they know people would be there.
“It's part of the campaign strategy. You cannot deny that people from all over the Philippines will be trooping here. The important thing is for us not to distract the program. I think it is open and fair for everybody,” he said.
This was his third time, he said, to attend the flower festival in Baguio, which he calls his second home.
“Baguio is my second home because my grandmother is from here, so she is an old-timer here,” he said.
Teodoro said he was touched by the warm reception of the people when he arrived here. In his younger years, he said, he and his cousins spent their summer vacations and Christmas here.
“Coming back here relives a lot of memories, of my grandmother, of my great grandfather who is buried here. It relieves a lot of very, very fond memories,” he added.

Teodoro unsure of Singson vote even after attending daughter’s wedding
Administration standard-bearer Gilbert Teodoro attended the Saturday wedding of the son of Deputy National Security Adviser Luis “Chavit” Singson Jr., but remained unsure of Singson's support.
Teodoro and President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo stood as principal sponsors at the wedding of Singson's son Ryan and Ilocos Sur Gov. Deogracias Victor Savellano's daughter Patch in Vigan City Saturday afternoon.
“Until the last day, we have to really work for each and every vote,” Teodoro told reporters here Saturday morning when asked if he was confident of Singson's support for his presidential bid.

Speculations had been rife that Singson would follow boxing champ Manny Pacquiao's lead and pick Nacionalista Party candidate Sen. Manuel Villar Jr. over Teodoro.
Singson, a staunch administration ally, fanned these speculations when he told the press Friday that the Ilocos leaders have not reached a consensus on whether to support the administration candidate.
Teodoro, who barnstormed Ilocos Norte, La Union and Ilocos Sur in a bid to clinch the “Ilocano vote,” said he respected the local leaders' decision process.
“I believe they're still making a decision in their own province. And we respect the process they're undertaking in their party,” he said.
La Union Rep. Victor Ortega, who accompanied Teodoro in his tour in the province, said Teodoro's attendance at the wedding should dispel speculations that Singson was supporting Villar.
“Well, I think that's for him (Singson) to answer,” he told reporters, referring to the speculations. But he added: ``Gibo is one of the sponsors at the wedding of Chavit's son. You draw your own conclusion.”
Ortega conceded that Singson, a long-time governor in Ilocos Sur, was still influential in the province.
Ortega, however, said that a majority of the Northern Alliance members, a group of lawmakers from Regions 1 and 2, and the Cordillera Administrative Region, were throwing their support behind Teodoro.
“Yes, most of them are supporting him,” he said, pointing out that this would a spell big difference in the final tally. He also predicted a landslide victory for Teodoro in La Union which accounts for over 400,000 voters.
Ortega conceded that Villar was Teodoro's toughest rival in the Ilocos Region, but he said the region would only go as far as supporting Villar's senatorial candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
“Ilocos will only carry Bongbong. Even I in Lakas will carry Bongbong, but only Bongbong [in Villar's party],” he said of the son and namesake of the late strongman Ferdinand Marcos.
Teodoro and President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo stood as principal sponsors at the wedding of Singson's son Ryan and Ilocos Sur Gov. Deogracias Victor Savellano's daughter Patch in Vigan City Saturday afternoon.
“Until the last day, we have to really work for each and every vote,” Teodoro told reporters here Saturday morning when asked if he was confident of Singson's support for his presidential bid.

Gibo’s P400-M political ads fail to connect with poor
An administration party official is blaming Lakas-Kampi-CMD standard-bearer Gilbert Teodoro’s P400-million infomercials for his poor showing in surveys.
The infomercials, which show Teodoro switching on the controls of a plane to prepare for takeoff, have failed to connect with the poor, Lakas-Kampi-CMD vice president Prospero Pichay said Wednesday.
“We’re not satisfied with the ratings. That is a signal that you have to double-time as far as campaign is concerned so the ratings will improve by the end of March,” Pichay said by phone.
But in Pichay’s view, Teodoro’s poor ratings have more to do with the message that he’s trying to get across to the voters than with his ties to the Arroyo administration.
“That’s not part of a stigma of the administration. I believe we’re not delivering the right message to the people as far as TV ad is concerned,” said the former Surigao del Sur lawmaker, who lost in the senatorial race in 2007.
Pichay said the infomercials, which try to deliver the message of an economic takeoff in a Teodoro administration, appealed more to the ABC class than to the D and E classes.
“The message has to be understood by ordinary Filipinos. They don’t understand what an airplane taking off is all about,” he said, noting that the poor could relate more to ads tackling gut issues like education, hunger and nutrition.
Teodoro has spent P407 million on ads, next to Villar’s P1 billion, according to the AGB Nielsen Media Research.
In the Taylor Nelson Sofres survey, conducted from Jan. 28 to Feb. 3, Teodoro slightly improved to 5.21 percent, but still lagged behind Senators Benigno Aquino III, Manuel Villar Jr. and deposed President Joseph Estrada.
Observers have attributed Teodoro’s poor showing to his ties to unpopular President Macapagal-Arroyo.
Mike Toledo conceded that the main criticism against the infomercials was that it appealed to the ABC crowd, and agreed that future ads should be “tweaked” to appeal to the other classes.
The spokesperson for Teodoro disagreed with the observation that the infomercials had failed to connect with the poor.
The poor are not dumb, Toledo said. “They are attuned to the times. It’s our responsibility to treat them equally as the AB class,” he said.
Besides, the infomercials’ message was clear. “It sends a message that we can [take off] with him,” he said.
