Top Rank head Bob Arum remains upbeat that Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather will eventually happen. The date: November 2012.

Even though Mayweather is embroiled in legal troubles following his sentencing to 90 days in jail for domestic violence, the Hall of Fame promoter said that the two are going to slug it out in 2012.

Now that Mayweather will be out of commission for the first half of 2012, Pacquiao will likely fight sometime “in the spring” against an opponent to be named in January.

Arum will meet up with Pacquiao when the Filipino spends the new year in Las Vegas.

“I would like to see him fight in the spring,” said the 80-year-old Arum, who has been promoting Pacquiao for the last six years.

Probable opponents are Juan Manuel Marquez, Timothy Bradley and Miguel Cotto.

Marquez and Bradley are the favorites to land the lucrative Pacquiao payday.

Arum said that had it not been for the conviction, Mayweather and Pacquiao would have reached an agreement.

Pacquiao has given in to two of Mayweather’s major demands: Olympic-style drug testing and a smaller revenue share.

Arum said that in the event Pacquiao and Mayweather get it on, the fight will probably end up being held in a sprawling space near the end of the Las Vegas Strip.

Arum said the 45,000-capacity arena that will be built can also be leased for concerts and other big events.

Pacquiao Mayweather demands $100M for mega-fight

Boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao claimed that his unbeaten and controversial rival Floyd Mayweather Jr. is asking a hefty sum for their anticipated blockbuster bout.

“Narinig ko sa $100 million ‘yung hiningi… Basta 'yun ang hinihingi n'ya kaya ‘di matuloy-tuloy [ang laban],” the fighting congressman of Sarangani province told ABS-CBN’s Jay Dayupay.

(I heard he’s asking $100 million. That’s what he’s asking for which is why the fight is not yet done).

Pacquiao, who is turning 33 on Saturday, said he is leaving it to his promoter to negotiate with Mayweather’s camp.

Top Rank Promotions, which handles Pacquiao’s fights, said that $100 million for just one fighter is impossible.

Pacquiao also mentioned that there were offers made by some promoters guaranteeing each fighter $50 million.

The Filipino champion said he has no qualms about getting the lower share, as long as the fight gets done.

“Actually, wala akong problema kahit na maliit lang amg prem’yo ko. Walang problema, basta matuloy lang ang fight (It’s no problem for be to get the smaller prize as long as the fight gets done)” said Pacquiao.

Pacquiao Yacht

World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao has bought a P25-million yacht as a Christmas gift to his family.

The Italian-made yacht, named "Sarangani’s Pride," is Pacquiao’s surprise treat to his family following his successful bout against Mexican champion Juan Manuel Marquez last November 12.

Pacquiao’s wife, Jinkee, said they had been dreaming of owning a yacht for sometime now.

“Andaming blessing na dumating atsaka ‘yung yate, iniisip lang namin dati na kelan kaya kami magkakaroon ng ganyan? Tapos ngayon, eto na,” she said.

The fully furnished vessel was blessed by a priest on Wednesday.

Pacquiao’s boat is considered as the “Ferrari” of yachts.

It carries 3 jet skis, worth P1 million each, and it can travel from Sarangani to Manila in a day-and-a-half.

Pacquiao said he and his family will have plenty of bonding time while riding the yacht.

"Regalo ko sa pamilya ko at sa mga kids ko, wife ko after ng [Marquez] fight," he said.

The “gift” is also seen by some as Pacquiao’s way to make up for a recent issue surrounding his marriage.

Shortly before the Marquez fight, rumors about Jinkee’s supposed plan to have her marriage to Pacquiao annulled circulated.

But this was vehemently denied by the boxing champion.

Jinkee now maintains that their problems are already a thing of the past.

"Actually, hindi ko na iniisip eh. Hindi ko na dapat iniisip ulit. Saka ‘di ko na dapat balikan pa," said Jinkee.

This marks Pacquiao’s second world championship headlining appearance at Cowboys Stadium. On March 13, professional boxing made its debut at Cowboys Stadium where close to 51,000 fans watched Pacquiao successfully defend his World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight title against former world champion Joshua Clottey. Call it Mannyfist Destiny, Pacquiao, no stranger to making history, will not only be looking to expand his trophy case by winning an unprecedented eighth world title in as many different weight divisions, but he will also be the first elected official to fight for a world championship, much less headline a major international pay-per-view promotion. He won a seat in his country’s Congress, winning the lone seat from the province of Sarangani, in a landslide in the May 10 election.

Pacquiao (51-3-2, 38 KOs), of General Santos City, Philippines, returns to the ring after successfully defending his WBO welterweight title via a dominant unanimous decision over former International Boxing Federation (IBF) welterweight champion Clottey. Pacquiao captured the WBO welterweight title last November with a brilliant 12th round knockout of four-time world champion Miguel Cotto. Pacquiao’s victory made him the first man to win seven titles in as many different weight divisions, with his last three world championships coming by way of knockout. The consensus Fighter of the Year for the third time in the past four years and the Boxing Writers Association of America’s “Fighter of the Decade,” Pacquiao’s resume features victories over future Hall of Famers, including Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Morales, Juan Manuel Marquez and Cotto. After losing the title to Paul Williams in 2007, Margarito dethroned IBF welterweight champion Cintron in a rematch, knocking him out in their 2008 fight.
