James Yap, son to campaign for Aquino soon

Coming soon: James Yap and son in the "Noynoy for President" roadshow.

Basketball star James Yap, of the champion Purefoods team, and his son Baby James will soon be barnstorming around the country to campaign for his brother-in-law, Liberal party standard bearer Sen. Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III.

Aquino said Yap, the husband of his younger sister Kris, and the couple’s toddler son were joining him on the campaign trail.

"James will be joining us in the coming sorties. The people are also looking for Baby James," he said.

Aquino said Yap would focus on campaigning in the Visayas, particularly Negros Occidental, from where he hailed.

He said that Baby James' appearances would depend on the venue because he was concerned about the boy getting mobbed by the crowds.

He said he was often asked in the campaign trail if Baby James was with him. The senator's young nephew has already appeared in a TV campaign ad for his uncle.

Aquino said Kris, the popular television star, might also later join the campaign. She might have to take a leave of absence from her TV show to do that, he said.

The senator was elated that his brother-in-law and his Purefoods teammates clinched the Philippine Basketball Association championship, winning over Alaska.

"It was no-contest, sweep," he said of Purefoods' 4-0 winning streak in the finals.
