Marcos country to support Villar

The so-called “solid North” founded by the late strongman Ferdinand Marcos will go for Nacionalista Party standard-bearer Manuel “Manny” Villar in the May polls, two members of the Marcoses claimed on Tuesday.

Gubernatorial candidate Imee Marcos and her brother, senatorial candidate Ferdinand “Bong-Bong” Marcos, were sure that the Ilocanos would vote Villar in the upcoming presidential elections.

“Oh, definitely,” said Bong-Bong when asked if Villar would get the support of Ilocanos.

As early as December last year, he said, Ilocanos decided to vote for Villar, whom they admired for his perseverance and his rags-to-riches life story.

“Gustong- gusto nila ang istoryang yan dahil ganyan ang kultura ng Ilocano (They really want the story because that’s the culture of Ilocanos),” he further said.

Imee said they are campaigning for Villar to ensure that all members of the solid North in Region 1, Region 2 and Cordillera would back his presidential bid.
“Yung solid North naman ay hindi na ibibigay sa iba’t ibang kandidadto. Kinakampaya namin nang maigi sa lahat ng mga miyemrbo ng Region 1,2 at Crdillera si Senator Villar. Kaya sigurado ako na yung solid north na tatay ko nga ang bumuo ay susuporta kay Manny Villar (The solid North will not go for another candidate. We are campaigning so hard for Villar to get the support of all its members in Region 1, Region 2 and Cordillera. That’s why I’m sure that the solid North founded by my father will support Villar in May),” she said.

“Ang solid North kasi talagang kinakausap, consultative yan (The solid North is really consultative). It’s a growing and vibrant na samahan at gusto nga nila itong programa ni Sen. Villar (group and they really want the programs of Sen. Villar),” she added.

Imee and Bong-Bong were both wearing orange, Villar’s campaign color, when they faced the media here.

VIllar is set to meet Former First Lady Imelda Marcos in Badoc town. He will visit the famous windmills in Bangui here. He will also attend an NP caucus and inauguration of the Badoc Municipal Hall.

In the afternoon, the senator will travel to San Fernando, La Union where he will meet with local officials there.
