Municipal tallies show Roxas winning by 200,000 votes, says LP

Based on the municipal certificates of canvass (COCs) his camp has gathered, Liberal Party vice-presidential candidate Manuel "Mar" Roxas II would edge Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay in the vice-presidential race by around 200,000 votes, former Defense Secretary Avelino Cruz said Saturday.

Cruz said that the municipal COCs the LP obtained from around the country were tabulated by Ateneo de Manila University professor Edmundo Lim and they showed Roxas would win by "plus or minus 200,000" votes.

Binay's camp does not have access to these documents because they are not the dominant minority party.

"Our rough computation based on municipal certificates of canvass shows (a Roxas lead of) plus or minus 200,000 nationwide," Cruz said in a press conference at the Balay Aquino-Roxas in Cubao, Quezon City.

Cruz said that the LP would present on Monday around 80 to 90 provincial COCs to show what it claims was the real score in the vice-presidential race.

Congress will eventually determine the official winners in the presidential and vice-presidential races based on a total 107 provincial certificates of canvass.
