P1 Million Reward for Palparan

Authorities have raised to P1 million the reward money for information that would lead to the arrest of retired Maj. General Jovito Palparan, who is an accused in the kidnapping of 2 missing student activists of the University of the Philippines.

Justice Secretary Leila de Lima and Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo agreed to raise the reward money by another P500,000.

They initially agreed on a P500,000 bounty for Palparan last December 27.

Palparan remains at large despite the issuance of a warrant for his arrest by a Bulacan trial court for the kidnapping and serious illegal detention of UP student activists Sherlyn Cadapan and Karen EmpeƱo in June 2006.

A manhunt for his arrest had been ordered by De Lima.
